Jose Barrios

Jose thrives in the dynamic world of technology, where he spearheads HP’s Intellectual Property Trademark and Technology Sales and Licensing efforts.

In his current role, Jose works across the company developing opportunities to license HP’s Trademarks and Technologies. His strategic acumen shines in executing brand extensions in new product categories while generating profitable revenue streams with minimal costs. Adept at building relationships, Jose excels at identifying and securing partnerships with ideal licensees, skillfully negotiating agreements that benefit both parties ensuring seamless execution and maximum impact. With a keen eye for market trends and a deep understanding of the legal landscape, Jose consistently delivers valuable outcomes, solidifying HP’s position as a leader in the licensing arena.

Since joining HP in 1999, Jose has served in a variety of roles including Business Planner, Manufacturing Development Engineer, and Strategic Alliance Manager within HP’s world leading printer business.

Jose, a native of México, earned his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Panamericana. After relocating to San Diego in 2003, he continued his education, earning a Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego, and completing the Professional Certificate in Intellectual Property from the University of California San Diego, with a focus on Trademark licensing issues.

In addition, Jose joined the Society of Product Licensors Committed to Excellence (SPLiCE) in 2013, and has participated in several Committees and Benchmark Initiatives, serving for the Board of Directors since 2017, and most recently as a Chairman of the Board from 2021 to 2023.
